Setting the Time and Date back Setting the time and date on your computer is extremely important. Why? Because each file you put on your computer is set by the time and date when you actually wrote it. This could be a problem if the battery on your motherboard dies. Yes -- there is a watch size battery clock on your motherboard! When your computer is turned off, a battery is keeping your computer clock running just like a battery keeps your wrist watch working 24 hours a day. Sometimes the battery runs out of juice and becomes a dead battery. When your battery becomes dead, all the dates on your computers files change back to the date: January 1, 1981. In other words, depending on the manufacturer of your motherboard, all your computer files have a NEW date (this could refer to the year) as to when they were originated. It is easy to tell when the battery is dead. Each time you open a file, you will get a pop up message informing you that the your files dates are incorrect. At this point you will need to replace the battery. To set the time and date:
